Hi my Extension lovers…. I’m not sure If you saw the salons closing statement but its official – lockdown till further notice!!! I just wanted you to know that as soon as we are back up and running your appointments will be the first on my priority list! Having extensions during this isolation period may or may not be difficult for you to manage but I felt it was my duty to send you maintenance recaps in case it may help in any way.
⚜️Before washing your hair, always brush your hair first to avoid problems with tangled and matting after when you blow dry.
⚜️ separate the links and ease out tangles.
⚜️apply Racoon extend shampoo to wet hair.
Gently massage the scalp with your fingertips, using a downwards zig-zag motion ( avoid circular motions as these can cause more tangling an matting ).
⚜️ rinse thoroughly. Pay special attention to rinsing around each luxe link to avoid any scalp irritation. Repeat if necessary
⚜️apply Racoon extend conditioner to wet hair.
⚜️using gentle finger strokes, smooth from mid lengths to ends.
Rinse thoroughly the same as you did before.
⚜️try to use a conditioning mask once a week. Apply the same as a conditioner and leave on for 10mins, rinse thoroughly.( you should apply this after your shampoo in between the conditioner). This will lock the mask in to the depth of your hair & extensions. The conditioner will close the cuticles and work it’s best
⚜️ leave in everyday conditioner sprays are designed for wet or dry hair.
⚜️apply to mids /ends when you want to boost shine.
PREPARING YOUR HAIR FOR DRYING.
⚜️Use a Wide tooth comb to remove tangles. Starting at mid lengths. Hold each section for support just above we’re you are combing & comb do wards towards the ends. Don’t except excessive tension l. Comb sections higher up the hair shaft each time. When you get close to the roots. Put your hand over the links to support them. Do not comb over the links.
⚜️ When drying with a hair dryer be sure to use your fingers to separate the links and use just a medium heat to save damage to your hair and the extensions
⚜️ work on all of the roots first drying this area pointing the hair dryer down the the hair shaft to ensure your roots are smooth around the links.
⚜️continue drying the roots off and work down the mids and ends rough drying to about 80%.
⚜️once the hair is almost dry, you can begin to use your styling brush to give shape to the hair.
DAY TO DAY STYLING
⚜️before using any heated appliances ( including hair dryers, straightening irons and curling tongs) always use Racoon xtend thermal defence spray or an alternative. It protects your hair from damage. Heat should not exceed 160°C.
⚜️A clear 5cms should be left between the appliance and the links.
WHY YOU SLEEP!
To prevent your hair from knitting while you sleep, we suggest that you tie your hair in a loose plait or ponytail. Avoid using uncovered elastic bands.
COLOURING HAIR – Ff your planning on colouring your hair you must not touch the links other wise your course damage to your hair underneath – especially if it is not rinsed well enough. Before you do please read our Colour in lockdown blog to help you decide wether is worth it or not…. not!
